Convicted serial bank robber Robert Maday was sentenced to 32 more years in prison Wednesday for his 2009 prison escape.

Maday told the judge today his escape was an "irresistible impulse" due to a lax in security.

After escaping back in 2009, Maday went on a bank robbery spree that was caught on surveillance video.

Maday's attorney said the sentence is too much.

"The main driving issue of the extremely large sentence was the use of a gun during the commission of a bank robbery which was contested at trial," said Anthony Sassan, Maday's attorney. "That added 25 years of mandatory consecutive time."

Maday had already been sentenced to 30 years in prison for bank robberies back in 2008.
