HAMMOND, Ind. (WLS) -- A Chicago woman is using social media to help make the holidays happier for people in need.

Volunteers dropped presents off at a Hammond home Sunday.

They will be part of "Santa Sacks" going to 130 children in Chicago and northwest Indiana.

It's just one of many projects made possible through a Facebook group called "Paying It Forward: Wishes and Heroes."

Tamye Haugen started the group as a way to connect families in need with others who want to help.

The group has grown from about 100 people to nearly 7,000 since Haugen started it a year and a half ago.
