Allie Quigley to sit out 2023 WNBA season but not retiring

Four-time WNBA 3-point contest winner Allie Quigley, a 2021 champion with the Chicago Sky, will sit out the upcoming WNBA season but is not officially retiring, ESPN's Holly Rowe reported Wednesday.

Without Quigley, Courtney Vanderslootand Candace Parker, who officially signed with the Las Vegas Aceson Wednesday, the Sky will look vastly different from the squad that took home the WNBA title two years ago. Their only starter under contract isKahleah Copper, andEmma Meesseman's future remains uncertain as a free agent.

Vandersloot, Quigley's wife, is expected to be the next big free agentto sign. She announced Tuesday that she will not return to Chicago, while ESPN's Ramona Shelburne previously reported she is choosing between the Seattle Storm, New York Liberty and Minnesota Lynx.

Quigley has not played overseas this season and had signed a one-year deal with the Sky in 2022. She averaged 11.4 points per game on a 35.5% clip from 3.

A two-time Sixth Woman of the Year and three-time All-Star, she has played in Chicago since 2013, with previous stints inPhoenix Mercury,Indiana Fever, San Antonio and Seattle.
