Chennedy Carter, the leading scorer for the Chicago Sky, is listed as out for Wednesday's game against the Washington Mystics due to health and safety protocols.

Carter, the No. 4 overall draft pick in 2020, is averaging 17.2 points in her first season with Chicago after not playing in the WNBA last year. The Mysticsalso have a starter out: center Shakira Austin (left ankle).

The Sky are 11-18 and hold the eighth and final playoff spot now. They have a one-game lead over the ninth-place Atlanta Dream. The Mystics are in 10th place at 8-22 and are coming off a victory at fifth-place Seattle on Monday.

Chicago is 1-4 since WNBA play resumed after the Olympic break. The Sky are coming off a last-second 77-75 loss to Las Vegas on Sunday. Carter tied that game on a 3-pointer with about a second remaining, but the Aces' A'ja Wilson then won it with a basket at the buzzer.

Sky rookie Angel Reese is currently on an unprecedented run of three consecutive games with 20 or more rebounds. She has 21 double-doubles this season, one away from breaking the rookie season record in that category.
