Source: Ex-Bears DT Nick Williams agrees with Lions on 2-year deal
The Detroit Lions started rebuilding the interior of their defensive line Monday night by agreeing to a two-year, $10 million deal with formerChicago Bearsdefensive tackle Nick Williams, a source confirmed to ESPN.
The deal was first reported by NFL reporter Adam Caplan.
The 30-year-old Williams had the best year of his career in 2019, recording 42 tackles with six sacks and two passes defended. He played in all 16 games for the first time in his career and started five games -- the first time he'd ever been an NFL starter.
Prior to going to Chicago in 2018, Williams was with Miami in 2016 and Kansas City from 2014 to 2016 after being taken in the seventh round by Pittsburgh in 2013 out of Samford.
Williams has appeared in 44 career games, making 60 tackles with 12 quarterback hits, six sacks and two passes defended.
Williams figures to have a rotational role in Detroit, which is looking to replace pending free agents Mike Daniels and A'Shawn Robinson along with Damon Harrison, who was released by the club last month.
