CHICAGO (WLS) -- A new state partnership aims to expand free broadband internet service to as many as 1,600 low-income families.
Governor Rauner was in the northwest suburbs to launch the partnership with Sprint, saying the $3 million, four-year program will help bridge the digital divide for families that couldn't otherwise afford wireless service.
The program began this week at five Illinois school districts, including District 214 in Elk Grove and Maine Township District 207.
