SF socialites found dead in running car on NorCal freeway: report

SAN FRANCISCO -- The California Highway Patrol is investigating the deaths of two well-known San Francisco residents found dead on Interstate 5 near Redding, California.

On Monday evening, a CHP officer stopped to check on an SUV that was still running on the shoulder.

Both the driver, 84-year-old Judith Sheldon, and the passenger, 86-year-old Wylie Sheldon, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports Judith is a San Francisco arts patron and daughter of Oscar-winning filmmaker William Wyler.

There's no word yet from the CHP on the cause of death.
