MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. -- Police arrested a 27-year-old woman after a chase that allegedly started with her stealing an elderly woman's pocketbook on Sunday in Long Island.
Authorities say the suspect, Megan Solomons, approached a 65-year-old woman who was putting groceries in her vehicle in Massapequa. Solomons then grabbed her pocketbook and started running, according to police.
The victim chased Solomons, and after a brief struggle, she was able to retrieve her handbag, detectives say. Solomons then fled the scene in her car.
The victim suffered minor injuries and refused medical assistance.
After an investigation, Solomons was arrested at her home in Melleville without incident.
Solomons is facing chargeds of third-degree robbery and was arraigned on Monday at First District court in Hempstead.
