VIDEO: Thunderstorms over Africa from outer space

LOS ANGELES -- You've probably witnessed thunderstorms here on Earth, but have you ever seem them in space?

NASA astronaut Terry Virts captured this awe-inspiring view of thunderstorms developing over Central Africa.

Virts, who is onboard the International Space Station, posted the video on his Twitter account on Sunday.

The flashes in the video are lightning bolts striking the ground.

Virts is due back on Earth in May.
