Cancer survivor marries in Island Lake

ISLAND LAKE, Ill. (WLS) -- Cancer can seemingly affect anyone at any time. That was the case for former Junior Olympic softball player, Tracy Murphy Anderson. She was diagnosed seven years ago with lung cancer. The disease took her grandfather's life and her mother currently is fighting stage IV. But Tracy lives by the motto: "Make the play. Cry later," which is based on advice that her dad gave her early in her softball career.

Through help from the lung cancer awareness group LUNGevity, Tracy has been able to fight the disease, and help others just beginning their journey of survival. In April 2015, Tracy's boyfriend, Jeremy Murphy, proposed after she crossed the finish line of LUNGevity's Breathe Deep North Shore walk. Just a few weeks ago, the happy couple tied the knot in their backyard in Island Lake. Tracy sat down with ABC 7 Eyewitness News to talk about her battle with lung cancer, and the joy of her recent wedding.
