Honor Flight Chicago set to mark milestone for trips for veterans

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Honor Flight Chicago is about to reach a remarkable milestone: Its 12,500th veteran flown to Washington, D.C.

The organization kicks off a new season next week.

This year they're expanding eligibility to include veterans of the war in Afghanistan and Operation Desert Storm.

This season, they're about to welcome their 12,500th veteran aboard.

Board President John Ptak and William Browne, a Vietnam War veteran who made the trip last year, joined ABC7 to talk about who is eligible and what veterans experience on the trip.
