St. Edward High School girls' soccer team surprise service member's daughter with new bike

CHICAGO (WLS) -- On this Memorial Day, ABC7 also thanked a current U.S. service member who's also a mom.

Charlita Carruthers is hospitalman first class, taking care of Sailors and Marines at Great Lakes Naval Base in North Chicago.

She's also a proud mom to Sarai, a high school freshman, and 5-year-old Adara.

St. Edward High School girls' soccer team surprised Adara with a brand new bike live on ABC7.

Since 2016, Chicago-area high school student athletes have been surprising and thanking service members and their children as an appreciation.
