Doula and maternal wellness event happening this week

CHICAGO (WLS) -- May is Maternal Mental Health Awareness Month, and ABC7 is taking a closer look at a disappointing disparity.

A local organization is working to change those statistics.

This week, Family Focus is hosting the free Village of Care: Doula and Maternal Wellness Event.

It brings together families, doulas, healthcare providers, and leaders for a day of connection, learning, and celebration.

Sherneron Hilliard, the senior vice president of programs and impact for family at Family Focus, and Darrin Johnson, the organization's regional vice president of centers, joined ABC7 to discuss on Sunday morning.
