CHICAGO (WLS) -- Mayor Rahm Emanuel spent Sunday afternoon on the city's Northwest Side where he cut the ribbon on a new playground at Oriole Park in the Norwood Park community.

"I can't think of a better way to end this holiday weekend than by opening this new playground, which will help this entire community come together," Emanuel said. "From parks to playgrounds to pre-kindergarten programs, we're investing in the future of every child in Chicago."

It's one of 103 playgrounds to be rebuilt under the mayor's Chicago Plays! program this year. Over a five-year period, the Chicago Park District plans to rebuild, repair and/or refurbish 325 playgrounds in communities across the city.
