CHICAGO (WLS) -- Writing this final script was a little tough for me - not for any lack of events around town, but just because it's the last one! I thought I'd switch it up a bit and start with something near and dear to my heart - the theatre beat!

Purpose, extended at the Steppenwolf Theatre

At the Steppenwolf Theatre, the world premiere of Purpose, directed by Phylicia Rashad, has been extended by popular demand. Spirited, hilarious and filled with intrigue, Purpose now runs through April 28.

A Streetcar Named Desire at the Paramount Theatre

The Tennessee Williams classic, A Streetcar Named Desire is now in performance at Paramount's Copley Theatre in Aurora. The highly recommended drama runs through April 21.

Churchill at Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place

A limited production of Churchill, starring David Payne is at the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place through Sunday. Some material may not be suitable for children.

Peter Pan at the Nederlander Theatre

Peter Pan at the Nederlander Theatre is absolutely suitable for children - of all ages! The reimagined production runs through Sunday.

Ragtime at the McGrath Family Center for Performing Arts in Wilmette

Experience the magic of the turn of the 20th century with the Highland Park Players production of the Tony Award-winning musical Ragtime. This rehearsal video is just a sample of the 83 member cast and full 28-piece orchestra! Performances are Friday through Sunday in Wilmette.

Joey & Maria's Comedy Italian Wedding at the Hoffman Estates Village Hall

Joey and Maria are getting married, and you're invited to the interactive comedy!! Wedding guests will enjoy an Italian buffet, cash bar, live music and lots of laughs - this weekend and next.

Greek Independence Day - Greektown

Greek Independence day is right around the corner, and so is the Greek Heritage Parade! It steps off on Sunday at 2:30 along Halsted Street in Greektown.

Chicago Prinefest at the Irish American Heritage Center

On the music beat, the inaugural Chicago Prinefest will be held tonight at the Irish American Heritage Center, celebrating Chicago singer-songwriter John Prine, who passed away in 2020. Musicians will interpret Prine's tunes and perform originals that draw from his music.

Makin' Music Bluegrass Jam at Thatcher Woods in River Forest

On the music beat, you can make your own at the Bluegrass Jam Sunday at Thatcher Woods in River forest! From 1 to 3 pm you can make a simple instrument, or bring your own and join the jam! Admission is free!

Oddities Flea Market at Morgan Manufacturing

And on the unusual beat, the Oddities Flea Market is back in town, Saturday and Sunday at Morgan Manufacturing. This bizarre collection of medical history and anatomical curiosities, natural history items, taxidermy, jewelry and one of a kind art will be on display for your shopping pleasure!

This year's show also will preview the producer's first book, The Witch's Door.

Job Fair at Navy Pier

And coming up on Tuesday Navy Pier will host a job fair from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. You can learn about seasonal and permanent openings, apply for jobs, and take part in on-site interviews in everything from Guest Services and attractions to servers and bartenders!

I would just like to say what an honor and privilege it's been putting together these Weekender segments for the past several decades! And thank you to all the people who let me go behind the scenes and do some very creative things that I never would have been able to do otherwise!
