Homewood man charged in Lakeview robbery

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 19-year-old suburban man has been charged in connection with a robbery over the weekend in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood.

Amari R. Jones, of Homewood, approached a 22-year-old man on the 400-block of West Melrose Street about 1:40 a.m. Saturday and demanded his property, police said.

The victim handed over his personal items and was then struck in the face by Jones, police said.

Jones is scheduled to appear in bond court Thursday.

The arrest comes as police said they will hold outdoor roll calls after several reports of robberies and attacks in Lakeview.
