She became pregnant and has a child. Her attorney says she filed the suit to help other women.
"Certainly her complaints met with punishment, not assistance, when people are sentenced, it's not a sentence plus being raped. So it needs to be looked into," said Kathleen Zellner, victim's attorney.
The victim has identified some of the attackers. This week she's expected to identify others.
The Illinois Department of Corrections says it cannot comment on specific investigations or lawsuits but that all incidents are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly.
