Gauger is seeking at least 50,000 from each detective and the McHenry County Sheriff's Department. He contends the investigators obtained a false confession from him during a long interrogation.
The former detectives denied the claims.
In 2002, Gauger was pardoned by former governor George Ryan after members of the outlaws motorcycle gang claimed responsibility for the murders.
