Guest List: George Wendt

In DRINKING WITH GEORGE: A Barstool Professional's Guide to Beer (Simon Spotlight Entertainment; on-sale October 20, 2009; Hardcover; $24.99), Wendt invites readers to crack open a cold one and pull up a seat at the bar as he celebrates the indelible, intoxicating beverage. More than just a guide to beer, this book is a celebration, an ode to Wendt's favorite libation.

In between spinning hilarious and frank tales of his own imbibing adventures -- from taking a first sip of his grandfather's Bud as a child in Chicago to a beer-fueled impromptu performance with Woody Harrelson and the U.S. Women's Synchronized Swimming Team -- he leaves no stone unturned in his quest to reveal and relish every detail about his favorite beverage. Showcasing lively anecdotes with a mixture of real knowledge of the hops and tongue-in-cheek tips for the ultimate beer-drinking experience, readers also gain insight into George's personality as he shares stories from his time spent on Cheers, Saturday Night Live, relationships with Woody Harrelson and Chris Farley, and performing at the well-known comedy theater The Second City.

When asked the following question by movie critic Arch Campbell, "What should people do when they see you around town?" George Wendt held his thumbs up and replied, "If their impulse is to buy me a beer, then by all means, follow that impulse." Ah, life is indeed, that gloriously simple for the self-proclaimed beer connoisseur and Cheers sitcom star, best known as Norm.

For everyone who appreciates the amber nectar of the gods whether it comes in a can, bottle, or a keg, DRINKING WITH GEORGE is all the fun -- without the hangover.

"Will Rogers once said he never met a man he didn't like. I feel the same way about beer."
