The automaker added vents to side-impact air bags so they adjust to a passenger's size.
A curved-shaped tether system pulls in the bottom of the air bag, reshaping it. Ford says that lessens the impact of the air bag on a passenger's chest and ribs.
The new air bags will eventually be put in other ford vehicles.
