Removed Aurora birds in 'remarkably good health'

October 27, 2012 (AURORA, Ill.)

The Greater Chicago Caged Bird Club in Villa Park is now caring for 358 rescued birds.

The club says the birds were well fed and cared for.

A judge ordered the birds to be removed from the aurora home of David Skerberdis after he admitted his bird collecting had gotten out of control.

"The bird club is very happy with the response of the City of Aurora," said Greater Chicago Caged Bird Club's Barbara Morris. "They were very sensitive to the homeowner. And worked with us and the homeowner very well to take a bad situation and come up with a happy ending."

After a 30-day quarantine the birds will be available for adoption.
