Skokie activist wants further action against officer

October 25, 2013 (SKOKIE, Ill.)

Lawyers for 47-year-old Cassandra Feuerstein say she broke several bones in her face after being shoved by a Skokie police officer. Feuerstein had been arrested for drunken driving. She has filed a lawsuit against the village of Skokie and one of its officers. Activist Mark Clements wants the officer fired.

"Cassandra is a human being. She deserved to be treated with integrity, with respect. She was not treated with respect," he said.

The Skokie village manager has said that the officer involved is on station duty and has no contact with the public. In a statement, he also says the village and the Cook County state's attorney are investigating.

The lawyer for Feuerstein says her client was shoved by an officer and her head hit a bench, breaking several bones in her face.
