Police host gun backback event in Humboldt Park

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Chicago Police Department hosted a gun buyback event Saturday in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood.

Community members received a $100 gift card in exchange for every gun turned in and a $10 gift card for every bb-gun, air-gun or replica firearm tuned in, no questions asked.

At a gun buyback event on Oct. 2, police said they had taken 1,342 guns off the street this year.

The event was hosted at and in partnership with the New Life Covenant Church.
