CHICAGO (WLS) -- Light snowfall is reducing visibility to a mile and a half in some locations throughout the Chicago area, ABC7 Meteorologist Tracy Butler said.
The snow is expected to continue into the middle part of Friday afternoon with accumulations between a half an inch and an inch in some areas. Temperatures will remain in the low 30s and Butler said snowfall will wind down by the evening.
WATCH: ABC7 First Alert Forecast
The weekend forecast is expected to remain calm with mostly sunny skies and highs in the 30s, although a rain/snow mix will push through during the evening commute Monday.
Chicago's light flurries come as quite a contrast to weather on the East Coast, where blizzard warnings are currently in effect for Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York City. Snowfall totals in those areas could reach 1-2 feet.
