JOLIET, Ill. (WLS) -- A Joliet man convicted of killing another man while the victim ate breakfast with his family was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday.
Christopher Thompson shot Gerrardo Franchini nine times inside a crowded diner back in 2013.
Prosecutors told jurors the two were engaged in a long-running dispute and had gotten into an argument at the diner. Thompson left and came back 15 minutes later and shot Franchini at point-blank range.
The victim's wife, 5-year-old daughter and 4-year-old niece all witnessed the shooting.
