CHICAGO (WLS) -- Hundreds of Chicago children will be warmer this winter thanks to a Chicago Public School coat drive.
The CPS Office of Faith-Based Initiatives partnered with the faith community to provide coats to students in the most needed areas.
CPS Chief Operation Officer Barbara Byrd-Bennett helped to hand out the coats at Langston Hughes Elementary School on the city's South Side.
"One of the things I know is you can educate a child's mind and you can help children to go but you also have to feed the children, cloth the children, and take care of the children," she said.
Coats were also handed out at two other schools on Tuesday to a total of 2,500 students.
