DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. (WLS) -- A 4-year-old girl drowned at the Downers Grove Swim and Racquet Club on Fairview Avenue Sunday evening, according to police.
The girl, identified as Anna Trent, was found unconscious in the pool around 7:30 p.m., Downers Grove police said. CPR was performed and she was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, but attempts to revive her were unsuccessful. She was pronounced dead a little after 9 p.m.
The pool is closed while police conduct their investigation. The Downers Grove Swim and Racquet Club tweeted Monday, "We are deeply saddened by the loss of a young life at our pool on Sunday, June 19th, 2016. The incident is currently under investigation and the pool will remained [sic] closed until further notice. The tennis facilities will open June 21st. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with all of the families that are involved."
Neighbors say the pool is a popular place in the summer and can get crowded on hot days.
