The Federal Aviation Administration wants passengers to keep e-cigarettes out of their checked baggage. They say the devices are a fire hazard in the plane's cargo compartment.

Recently, the FAA says there were several incidents where the heating element in e-cigarettes has accidentally activated and either overheated or caught fire.

The FAA recommends that passengers carry e-cigarettes in their carry-on baggage. That way, overheating or fire can be seen and handled quickly.
