17-year-old fatally shot in East Garfield Park

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police are searching for the person who shot and killed a 17-year-old boy around midnight Sunday in the 3100 block of West Polk.

Investigators say Brandon Peterson was standing with a group of people when he was hit by gunfire.

He was taken to a hospital, but doctors could not save him.

Friends say Brandon was a loving young man.

"Very mannerable, joking, joked a lot, went to school, no problems at all," said Tomara Pryor. "He was a nice young man. He was loved."
