'Independence Day' promo website allows you to simulate alien attack on your street

CHICAGO (WLS) -- 20 years after its first release, the sequel to "Independence Day" hits theaters this weekend.

To get you in the mood, a website allows you to see what your neighborhood would look like if it were attacked in an alien invasion.

Visit www.independencedaymystreet.com and enter your address.

A few seconds later an image of your neighborhood pops up full of destruction.

We entered in the address for our State Street studio. It shows a big alien ship blocking State Street where the "L" would be. Amazingly, the Chicago Theater remains untouched, as does the video ribbon in front of our studios.
