It's a big question parents face, do you let the baby cry or soothe them every time there's tears?
New research is breaking some old stereotypes by suggesting that babies be picked up every time they cry.
The team at the University of Notre Dame's Department of Psychology says it doesn't spoil them but rather fosters a sense of calm, eases their stress levels, and allows them to grow better.
They say those who are cuddled as children grow into more well-adjusted adults with less anxiety and better mental health.
