'Duke Classic' honors late ABC7 News photographer, raises money for charities

HOMER GLEN, Ill. (WLS) -- A charity golf event just wrapped up tonight in southwest suburban Homer Glen.

People enjoyed dinner and dancing at the Old Oak Country Club at the annual Duke Classic.

The charity event is in memory of ABC7 Eyewitness News photographer Mike Dukewich, who died unexpectedly in 2012.

The charity honors his life and raises money for the Wounded Warrior Project and the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

"This is another example of Americans standing behind warriors and letting them know that they care and that they want them to succeed in life," said Norbie Lara, Wounded Warrior Project.

Earlier Saturday, plenty of golfers turned out for some fun on the green before those afternoon storms arrived.
