CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Melting Pot fondue restaurant in the Loop has shut down indefinitely due to financial reasons, according to a restaurant statement on Monday.

The restaurant at 609 N. Dearborn Street is one of four locations for the restaurant chain. Other Melting Pot locations are in suburban Downers Grove, Naperville and Schaumburg.

A statement on the restaurant website said: "While there are no plans to re-open the downtown Chicago location, we hope to return to the market in the future ... We sincerely appreciate your patronage for more than 10 years at this location."

About 20 people were employed at the restaurant.
