CHICAGO (WLS) -- A new restaurant is bringing home cooking to the city's South Chicago neighborhood.
The owner of New Look Restaurant, Nathaniel Pendleton, visited ABC 7 to show-off how to make his Almond Battered Fried Chicken. He is the father of Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year-old girl who was fatally shot in 2013.
RECIPES:
Almond Battered Fried Chicken
Ingredients:
3 cups flour
1 egg
1 tablespoon kosher salt
3/4 tablespoon black pepper
3/4 tablespoon red cayenne pepper
2 tablespoons granulated garlic
2 1/2 cups of almond milk
Preparation:
Mix all the ingredients together, until batter is formed. Dredge the chicken in the batter on both sides. Then take it out and dip it in regular flour. Once the chicken is covered in flour, drop it into the oil. Make sure the oil is at about 350 degrees. Let that cook for about 15 minutes.
