CHICAGO (WLS) -- Battling cancer is of course no laughing matter, but Gilda's Club is still trying to lighten the mood of going through treatment and fighting the disease - with laughter! The organization's name honors the memory of comedian Gilda Radner, who died from cancer in 1989. Gilda's Club is inviting everyone to two fun fundraisers to help its cause: Gildapalooza and the Agents of Hope Dinner.
Gilda's Club Chicago provides free psychosocial support to adults and children diagnosed with cancer and their loved ones, to help them through the treatment process.
Dan Olas, Gilda's Club board member and beneficiary, came into our ABC 7 Eyewitness News studio to tell us about the events and the organization's work in the Chicago community.
