Good Samaritan alerts 2 children, 3 dogs to house fire

VALPARAISO, Ind. (WLS) -- Two Indiana children escaped a house fire Wednesday thanks to a quick-thinking good Samaritan.

A man was walking by the home in Valparaiso when he noticed he garage was on fire. He banged on the front door and woke the sleeping children.

The children's parents were away at work. The children escaped unharmed with their three dogs.

There has been no word on what started the fire.
