Driver accused of hitting state trooper was on probation for previous DUI

BERKELEY, Ill. (WLS) -- The driver accused of being drunk while hitting an Illinois state trooper was already on probation for a DUI conviction.

Leslie Thurow faces several charges, including aggravated DUI, for hitting the trooper on the Tri-State Tollway. Police say her blood alcohol was twice the legal limit.

Last week, a judge sentenced her to two years' probation for a DUI in June. She also has a DUI conviction from 2008.

The trooper is hospitalized in critical condition.
