CHICAGO (WLS) -- Lincoln Park Zoo is saying goodbye to Anana, its iconic polar bear. She has called the Chicago zoo home for the last 13 years, but will soon move east to her new home at North Carolina Zoo.
Anana was born at Seneca Park Zoo in 1999 and moved to Lincoln Park Zoo in 2001. Her move is part of the collaborative work of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
Work is also scheduled to begin on the expansion of Lincoln Park Zoo's polar bear exhibit and the construction of a new African penguin exhibit, which is expected to open in 2016.
