CHICAGO -- At least 33 people have been shot, six fatally, in shootings across Chicago so far this weekend, police said.

Teen critically injured in South Side shooting, CPD says

A teen was critically wounded in a shooting Sunday evening on the city's South Side.

The shooting happened around 5:14 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Wolcott Avenue, Chicago police said.

The victim, a 15-year-old boy, was standing near a sidewalk at the location when an unknown vehicle pulled up and at least one person from inside got out and began to shoot at him. The boy was shot multiple times in the legs, police said. He was taken to Comer Children's Hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition.

The offenders fled the scene in the vehicle, travelling eastbound on 57th Street, police said.

No one was in custody as police continue to investigate.

Chicago Shotspotter contract ends Sunday morning

The city's ShotSpotter contract ended early Sunday morning.

The company that owns ShotSpotter will begin dismantling the technology in Chicago on Monday.

The move despite most of the City Council voting to renew it.

Mayor Brandon Johnson said he plans to veto that effort and called the technology inefficient.

The mayor said the money saved by ending ShotSpotter will be reinvested in other technology that's part of what he calls a holistic approach to public safety.

At least 31 people have been shot, six fatally across Chicago, according to police.

Man shot in the head during armed robbery in Back of the Yards: CPD

A 19-year-old was shot in the head during a robbery on the city's South Side according to Chicago police.

The crime happened in the 1900-block of W. 47th Street around 11:39 p.m.

The victim was walking out of a gas station when two men approached him to demand his things.

Police said one of the robbers grabbed the victim by the chain while the other shot him in the head.

The 19-year-old victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. No one is in custody.

The robbery happened near 47th and Wolocott on Saturday around 11:39 p.m. police said.
