The battle against breast cancer draws a "Movement of Pink" to Chicago's Near North Side.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The battle against breast cancer draws a "Movement of Pink" to Chicago's Near North Side.

That's the theme for this year's American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K walk.

Supporters rallied at a kickoff celebration on Aug. 5, where ABC7's Judy Hsu served as the emcee.

ABC7 Traffic Anchor Roz Varon wanted to give a special thanks to the American Cancer Society and all the survivors and supporters.

ABC7 Traffic Anchor Roz Varon, who emceed another kickoff event on Aug. 26, wanted to give a special thanks to the American Cancer Society and all the survivors and supporters who were there. The event was hosted by the national association of letter carriers.

The audience heard from survivors, had great food and music, even learned some line-dances, all to gain more support for the upcoming walks in October.

Roz will host the Chicago Making Strides Walk, which opens at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Soldier Field. Opening ceremonies will begin at 9 a.m. and the walk will begin at 10 a.m.

Funds raised go toward breast cancer research, prevention and treatment.

Other 5K walks take place on various October dates at nine other Chicagoland locations. For more information, click here.
