Harvey to rename community center for Maya Angelou

HARVEY, Ill. (WLS) -- South suburban Harvey will be home to a permanent tribute to the late Maya Angelou.

A community center there will be renamed in the poet's honor.

Monday night, Harvey Mayor Eric Kellogg proposed a measure to rename the Harvey community center to "The Doctor Maya Angelou Community Center of Harvey."

The city council voted in favor of the idea.

Maya Angelou died may 28th at the age of 86.
