CHICAGO (WLS) -- A new industry is coming to Illinois - medical marijuana will soon be grown and sold in the state.
It brings with it some special concerns since this is a product that is illegal for most people to possess. Then there's the need to get it to those it's meant for - people with medical conditions that may be helped by its use.
And there's the prospect of jobs at the cultivation centers and dispensaries across the state.
According to the Illinois Department of Agriculture, 18 cultivation permits have been granted and the Department of Public Health has issued nearly 2,600 approval letters to qualifying patients.
Joining us to talk about all this and more is Teddy Scott, the CEO of PharmaCann, a company that will be operating both dispensaries and cultivation sites.
