CHICAGO (WLS) -- For many families, caring for their elderly loved ones is a 24/7 job. The constant care takes its toll, making it difficult to work, run errands, or have time for leisure activities.
But a new program aims to help give family caretakers a few hours each day to take care of themselves. Metropolitan Family Services in DuPage County is looking for In-Home Senior Respite volunteers.
For as little as three hours per week, you can make all the difference to area families by simply watching movies, going for a walk, reading, playing cards or socializing with a senior.
One of the volunteers, Chris Litavsky, visited the ABC7 State Street studios to talk about the great need for the program.
