ELGIN, Ill. (WLS) -- Two people were killed in an accident in the northwest suburbs that sent a third person to the hospital.
Just after midnight Saturday, a car was heading west on Forest Drive in suburban Elgin, veered off the road and slammed into a tree.
Firefighters had to extricate two people. The crash was so loud, a neighbor ran outside to see what happened.
"I was in the house in bed actually and I heard a big loud bang and I thought it was someone trying to break into my house and realized it was a tree, and a car," said Brian Soder.
Investigators say there was only one car involved in this wreck, but the cause of the accident is still unknown.
Doctors are treating the third person in the accident for serious injuries.
Investigators have not yet released the victims' names.
