CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police are looking for a man who approached two children in the Little Village neighborhood. In both cases, they got away.
A 13-year-old girl told police she was walking in an alley in the 2500-block of South Harding Avenue at 9:15 a.m. on April 22 when a man speaking Spanish asked her for a dollar. She told officers she ignored him and he grabbed her by the throat. She then kicked him in the knee and ran away. She reported the incident to officials at her school, Little Village Academy, which is less than a mile away from where she was grabbed.
Police issued a community alert asking parents to walk their children to school.
"I drop my kids off so I make sure that they're in school and I stay here for a little bit and make sure kids are playing around," Miguel Villalobos said.
The offender is described as a 40 to 50 year old man with black eyes and an olive complexion. He's 5'4", 140 to 160 pounds with black hair. He was wearing a black baseball cap, a red jacket with a dark blue Air Jordan Logo, blue jeans and white Nike gym shoes.
"I tell my kids to try to fight and run and scream as loud as they can," Dora Leon, parent, said.
Officials are also looking into a second, similar incident that occurred last Sunday. In that incident, the child was a boy.
Anyone with information regarding the alleged attacks should contact Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8380.
