SUV jumps moving drawbridge in Florida

PALM BEACH, Fla. (WLS) -- An SUV plowed through a safety gate and jumped a moving drawbridge in Palm Beach, Florida.

The driver barely missed an accident that could have cost him his life. Police said he was not paying attention and didn't see the traffic arm go down.

"It was a distracted driver incident. The individual was coming back toward West Palm and didn't see the bridge coming down. It was suspected that guy was messing with his GPS," Palm Beach Police Officer Philip Salm said.

The 29-year-old driver and his passenger survived the jump with only minor injuries.
