Woman killed in Logan Square crash
Joanna Balbuena, 26, was killed when she lost control of her car and drove into oncoming traffic in Logan Square overnight.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police are investigating a car crash in Logan Square that killed Joanna Balbuena, 26, near Pulaski and Diversey in Logan Square early Sunday morning.

Police say the Balbuena was driving on Pulaski when she lost control of the vehicle, side swiped a car, then spun around and hit another car head on. She had to be extricated from her car, and was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital where she died.

No one else was injured in the crash.

Balbuena's family says she was a volunteer for school children and leaves behind a 7-year-old daughter.

"She helped children, she volunteered. She was just a good person," said John Alvarez, Balbuena's brother. "She would help anybody with anything. She was my only sister, my baby sister, and I can't believe that she's gone now."

Police are investigating why she lost control of her car.
