Woman's body found along U.S. 421 in LaPorte Co.

LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. (WLS) -- Police are investigating after a woman's body was found on the side of the road in southern LaPorte County, Ind.

The body was found Wednesday afternoon in a roadside ditch by a passerby along U.S 421, north of U.S. 30.

Authorities believe the woman is the victim of a hit-and-run accident that occurred between 1:55 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Authorities said the woman is believed to be from the Porter County area. She has not yet been identified.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday morning.
