CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man tried to lure two girls into an SUV by offering them candy on Chicago's Far Northwest Side, police said.

A community alert issued by police said the girls were practicing gymnastics moves in front of their home in the 3400-block of North Page Avenue around 7:35 p.m. on Nov. 6.

Police said around 7:35 p.m., an SUV pulled up with three white men inside. A man in his 30's who was sitting in the rear passenger seat lowered his window and yelled to the girls, "Do you want some candy?"

They ran into their house and told their father what happened. He called police.

Police did not give a good description of the group. But the SUV was described as a burgundy, 4-door, Chrysler SUV. There were scratches on the rear quarter panel of the passenger side.

Anyone with information regarding this incident should call Area North detectives at (312) 744-8200.
