Off-duty Cook County Sheriff's correctional officer shot in hand

CHICAGO (WLS) -- An off-duty Cook County Sheriff's correctional officer has been shot and wounded, officials said.

The officer was shot in the hand near 80th and Paulina streets Sunday in the city's Gresham neighborhood, police said, though it is not clear if this happened during a robbery or a carjacking.

The officer is in good condition.
